Earthquake reported in New York: USGS

A 2.0-magnitude earthquake was reported in New York on Sunday night, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was reported at 7:50 p.m., with the epicenter appearing around Keeseville, just south of the New York-Canadian border and just west of Lake Champlain.

Surrounding towns that may have felt the earthquake include Plattsburgh and Burlington, Vermont, according to the USGS.

The USGS received over 30 responses from users in the surrounding area as of 8:20 p.m. on Sunday.

Most reports registered between intensity levels of two and four, meaning weak or light shaking.

Over the weekend, there were three reported earthquakes in the U.S.:

  • 2.0-magnitude near Keeseville, NY: 7:50 p.m. on Sunday
  • 2.5-magnitude near The Geysers, CA: 4:40 p.m. (ET) on Sunday
  • 3.1-magnitude near Springer, OK: 12:50 a.m. (ET) on Sunday
